Literature Text

We will return
When silence enfolds the land
Once more
We shall be here

Did you think you were freed
As we fled and as we fell?
Did you think there was salvation
Amidst our blood and in our cries?

I tell you
You were mistaken.

When autumn falls softly with the leaves
We shall pass once more
Through fields now empty
Through lanes all overgrown.

This, the land, is ever in our minds
And we will return
This is the sort of rough-draft of my poem "Entrenchments" [link] . I wrote this first, and wasn't super pleased with it, so I completely started over and wrote "Entrenchments" which is based off this but gives a slightly different perspective. Any comments would be appreciated!
